  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender until pea-sized crumbs are formed.
  2. Reserve 2 cups of the crumb mixture for the topping and press the remainder into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven.

  5. Terry says:

I want to make this but I want to verify the butter amount. It calls for 1 1/4 cups. That is 2 1/2 sticks of butter. Is this correct?

    1. Mary says:

Yes, that’s right, Terry. A standard batch requires 2 1/2 sticks of butter. I hope you love the bars!

  6. April Kudrna says:

    Can you use frozen peaches

    1. Mary says:

Hi, April! Frozen peaches should work in the recipe, but keep an eye out to make sure the texture is staying consistent as they thaw. I hope you love the peaches and cream bars. Happy baking!

  7. Roxi Johnson says:

These are so yummy! I added some finely chopped pecans in the crust!
    Can these be frozen?

    1. Mary says:

While you can freeze them, I would not recommend it as the custard filling will likely be extremely “weepy” when you thaw them.

  8. Susan says:

If you don’t have fresh peaches, can you use canned peaches instead?

    1. Mary says:

Susan – Yes, canned will work just be sure to drain them.
