Whipped Maple Pecan Butter is smooth, sweet, creamy deliciousness perfect for topping cornbread or on these homemade rolls or these fluffy whole wheat rolls.
Whipped Maple Butter
I am a fan of condiments. Butters, sauces, dressing, dips and will try anything once. If I love it, I have been known to eat the entire container until I figure out what all the ingredients are so I can make my own dupe, but even better.
Whipped Maple Pecan Butter is inspired by the honey butter with pecans that we first tasted with the cornbread at Smokey Bones restaurant. After tasting that I knew that I would be making it, this whipped butter is unforgettable.
It took a bit of experimenting with quantities and flavors. But as I played with the recipe a bit and I discovered I actually like it even more with the hint of maple syrup than with honey.
It is delicious both ways but the slightly sweeter note the maple syrup gives it just worked for me, and my crew agreed as they wordlessly devoured it.
The crunch of pecans in the butter is something that no one can resist. They are perfect with the creaminess of the butter and the soft crumb of a fresh cornbread or flake of a biscuit.
You are going to find yourself spreading this whipped butter on top of fresh waffles and eating them like toast. Probably my absolute favorite way to enjoy this butter.
If I have the time or want to add a bit more flavor I give the chopped pecans a quick toast in the skillet to release the oils and nutty fragrance.
Maple Butter Recipe
While you can certainly make this with just butter and maple syrup (and admittedly, that is a delicious combination) adding a teeny bit of molasses works to deepen the flavor.
And that sprinkling of crunchy pecans is a terrific and unexpected addition. Feel free to skip the pecans if they aren’t your thing, but I recommend trying them.
You likely have all the ingredients on hand to make this right now:
- butter
- maple syrup
- molasses
- pecans (optional)
Maple butter is amazing on fresh bread, rolls, or biscuits. For a cozy dinner serve a bowl of hot soup and top your Winter Squash Bread with maple butter.
My favorite cornbread (pictured above) is a classic cornbread recipe. It is a simple, easy-to-follow recipe and makes a wonderfully fluffy cornbread with a tender crumb.
