Cranberries and white chocolate chips take a batch of oatmeal cookies from ordinary to spectacular. And this oatmeal cookie recipe is fantastic with all the thick, chewy-softness you want in a cookie.

Cranberry White Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Why is it that oatmeal cookies tend to get shoved to the sidelines, while chocolate chip cookies get the spotlight? Don’t get me wrong, I love a Caramel Stuffed Double Chocolate Cookie as much as the next person.

But oatmeal cookies are packed with so much flavor and awesome texture. Oatmeal gives cookies a nice contrast to the sweetness and I just love that.

Oatmeal Cranberry White Chocolate Chip Cookies

These oatmeal cookies are exceptional and combine the best of the oatmeal and chocolate chip cookie worlds with the addition of white chocolate chips.

Instead of the traditional raisins for oatmeal cookies, I like adding cranberries. And there is something about the zing of the cranberry that beautifully pairs with the sweet white chocolate.

My family (and many readers too!) have declared these some of the best cookies ever.

How To Make Homemade Oatmeal Cookies

These cookies don’t require a mixer and the chilling time is limited, making them quick and easy to stir-up and bake with minimal dishes afterward.

Actually, it is important NOT to chill the dough for too long. Leaving the dough in the refrigerator for several hours hardens the dough too much and the cookies won’t spread.

About 30 min of chilling is ideal, it firms them up just enough to keep them thick. If you need to chill the dough for longer, be sure to allow it to warm a bit before baking.

I was wondering if you have ever made these without the white chocolate chips? Not that chocolate isn’t always the best option. ??.?. I’m going to pin the recipe for later.

These cookies are really good! I made them about a week ago. And making another batch right now. I feel no guilt when eating these.

  7. Amber says

I’ve got 1 minute left on my timer and they are still in ball shapes in the oven.. I only put them in the fridge for 30 minutes, definitely needs a shorter time in the fridge for me anyway

    • Mary says

That’s odd, Amber. How large were the balls when you put them in the oven? And did you substitute/omit any ingredients?

[…]   Since there are probably about 30 million recipes floating around the internet already for regular oatmeal cookies, I decided to add an extra bit of fall flair by adding some maple buttercream to make them sandwich cookies. Besides, sandwich cookies are so much fun to eat! First of all, because you get to eat two cookies at once, and second, because you get to frosting with them! However, if you want a simpler treat, feel free to make the cookie sans frosting. For another way to dress up oatmeal cookies, check out my Cranberry White Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies. […]
