These Apple Blondies with Brown Sugar Frosting are packed with delicious fall flavors in a soft, cinnamon apple blondie.
Apple Cinnamon Blondies
These are soft and chewy blondies with a perfect cinnamon flavor to compliment the apples in each bite. These apple-filled bars are delicious both with and without the frosting, but that brown sugar frosting takes an apple blondie right over the top.
Just like these buttery sweet brown sugar blondies with candy corn, apple cinnamon blondies are a fun seasonal treat that kids and adults alike enjoy.
Wondering what the difference is between blondies and brownies? They are both delicious baked treats, but they differ in key ingredients.
Blondies are made with brown sugar, giving them a rich caramel flavor, and brownies add cocoa or chocolate to the mix for a deep, chocolatey taste. Blondies tend to be buttery and vanilla-flavored, with a chewy texture, while brownies typically have a rich chocolate flavor and fudgy texture.
Apple Blondies
You’ll need the following ingredients to make this recipe:
Blondie Ingredients
- butter, sugar, and eggs
- all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon
- apples and pecans
Brown Sugar Frosting Ingredients
Apple Blondies Recipe
Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt butter. Beat in sugar and eggs until fluffy. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and baking powder.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet and stir until just combined. Gently fold in apples and pecans, if desired. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Brown Sugar Frosting Recipe
While the blondies are in the oven, make the brown sugar frosting. Melt the butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and heat until bubbly and let bubble for about 2 mins.
Add the milk and cook for another 30-60 seconds until no longer grainy. Remove the pan from the heat and add the vanilla and powdered sugar. Beat until smooth. Add more milk if necessary to thin it out.
Frost the bars with the warm frosting about 2 minutes after they come out of the oven. Cool completely before slicing.
If you’re looking for more inspiration to figure out what to do with those bags of pretty apples on your counter. I have you covered with these blondies.
And there are plenty of additional ways to enjoy fall’s abundant apples – like Caramel Apple Dessert Pizza, Baked Apple Fritters, Apple Streusel Pie, or these Apple Oatmeal Cookies. Who doesn’t need just one more great apple dessert?
Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls are perfect for a fall dessert or breakfast treat. Classic cinnamon rolls get an upgrade with freshly diced apples and caramel frosting in this recipe.
A quick and easy dessert that is fancy enough for company, Caramel Apple Puff Pastries are great on their own or when served warm and dressed up with a scoop of ice cream melting into them.
Want something savory too? Apple Bacon Cheddar Ham Sandwiches and this Apple Pecan and Feta Salad are family favorites anytime we have apples on hand.

The instructions mention salt in the frosting but it’s not in the ingredients.
Mary says
Good catch! I use salted butter now and it’s unnecessary to add salt. I’ve corrected the recipe.
Christine L. Jefferies says
Something went wrong with mine. The flavor was good, but they were so flat. I just bought new baking soda and baking powder so I know that wasn’t the problem. I would like to try them again so any suggestions. They just kind of came out mushy on the bottom. Edges were starting to burn so I couldn’t bake them any longer. Not sure…
Mary says
That’s very odd, Christine. Without being in your kitchen with you, it’s difficult to guess what might have gone wrong. This is a fairly straightforward recipe and my best guess is that something simply might have been mismeasured. I’ve had that happen more than once before when I’m distracted while baking. Did you by chance substitute any ingredients? I can certainly appreciate your frustration!
Terrie says
Hi, Good Morning. I would just like to ask a quick question. How well do you think the blondies would freeze? I’m thinking of doing some holiday baking and would like some different treats to prepare ahead of time.
Mary says
I’m guessing these would freeze fine, Terrie. However, I haven’t tried that myself.
