With just 3 ingredients and 15 minutes in the oven, Brown Sugar Bacon is a guaranteed way to ensure breakfast happiness. There’s something almost magical in the way a bit of melted butter and brown sugar caramelizes around each salty strip of bacon.
Brown Sugar Bacon
Brown sugar + bacon = the best bacon you may ever eat. Yes, I said that. And I stand by it. This bacon is a guaranteed way to ensure breakfast happiness.
While I’ve written the recipe below to serve just 2-3 people (or one person, if you really love bacon), it can and should be multiplied to your heart’s desire.
You can easily quadruple this recipe on a single sheet pan. And in the interest of “recipe testing” (or maybe it was just because I wanted to make sure I had some for myself later) I very carefully hid 2 pieces of this bacon in the fridge for a couple of days.
I’m happy to tell you that the bacon was irresistible cold, as well as when I reheated it for just a few seconds in the microwave. So, feel free to make extra and cross your fingers that it won’t all be devoured 5 minutes after pulling it from the oven. Leftover bacon might be one of the best things I’ve stashed in my fridge in recent memory.
How to Make Brown Sugar Bacon
You’ll need the following ingredients to make the best bacon of your life:
- bacon
- melted butter
- light brown sugar
Regular or thick-cut bacon will work fine for this recipe. I prefer thinner bacon most of the time, but thicker works nicely too. You’ll need a bit of additional baking time, just a few more minutes depending on your oven, so watch and adjust as needed.
Brown Sugar Bacon Recipe
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil. Spread the bacon strips out across the sheet pan. Lightly brush each strip with butter and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake until browned and shiny with melted sugar, about 15 minutes, or until the bacon is your desired level of crispness. Use tongs to carefully transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate.
For a spectacular breakfast meal, serve this bacon with a classic Breakfast Casserole, a stack of Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes, or with tray of berry-filled Sheet Pan Pancakes to feed a crowd.
