Ingredients

  • ½ cup sugar
  • 5 cups water divided
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • ¾ cup fresh lemon juice about 5 medium lemons worth
  • ice for serving

Instructions

  • Bring sugar and 1 cup of water to a boil. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Add the blueberries and simmer until the berries begin to burst, pressing gently with a wooden spoon as they cook.
  • Place a fine mesh sieve over a bowl next to the stove. Pour the berry mixture through the strainer. Discard the berry pieces caught in the strainer.
  • In a large pitcher, combine the blueberry syrup, lemon juice, and the remaining 4 cups of water. Stir to combine and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Fill glasses with ice and then fill each one with blueberry lemonade. Garnish with fresh berries, mint sprigs, and a lemon slice, if desired.
