4large appleschopped into ½-inch pieces, about 6 cups
3large rhubarb stalkscut into ½-inch pieces, about 2 cups
1tablespoonlemon juice
¾cupsugar
3tablespoonscornstarch

1cupold-fashioned oats
1cupall-purpose flour
½cuplight brown sugar
½teaspoonground cinnamon
½cupbuttermelted
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 or 10-inch baking dish (about 2½ quart size) with butter. Combine the apples, rhubarb, lemon juice, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium bowl. Stir to coat, then set aside.
In another bowl, stir together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter. Pour the fruit into the greased pan, then sprinkle the oat mixture on top of the fruit.
Bake for 26-30 minutes, until the crust has browned and the fruit mixture is bubbling. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Take care to cut the apple and rhubarb in as equal size pieces as possible, no longer than ½-inch in size. This will allow them to be done cooking at the same time.
