Ingredients

Filling Ingredients

  • 8 medium apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp varieties, about 3 pounds, peeled and sliced thin
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg optional

Topping Ingredients

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup butter room temperature

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place the sliced apples in a large mixing bowl and sprinkle with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat. Transfer the apples to a greased 10-inch baking dish.
  • In the same mixing bowl used for the apples, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter and use a fork to mix the butter into the dry ingredients, until little crumbles form. Sprinkle over the apples in the baking dish.
  • Bake until the filling is bubbling and the crisp topping is golden brown, about 35-38 minutes. Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
