Crockpot Peach Cobbler

This peach cobbler was inspired by my all-time favorite cobbler recipe. It’s sweet and juicy with plenty of real peach flavor and just the right touch of cinnamon, this is the last homemade peach cobbler recipe you’ll ever need.

But, making peach cobbler in slow cooker leaves your oven available to cook other dishes. And, especially during the hottest days of summer, it gives you an option that keeps your kitchen a lot cooler.

Just a note about cooking cobbler in the crockpot. I’m a wee bit of a cobbler snob and I’ve tested this easy recipe for peach cobbler several times more than may have been necessary. But hey, no one is complaining over here!

I’ve found that slow cooker cobblers tend to absorb more liquid than traditional cobblers. As a result, less topping is required to achieve the perfect balance of tender cooked fruits and sweet, flaky, buttery crust.

If you want more topping for your cobbler, the topping ingredients below can be doubled for a thicker crust. Plan on an extra 30-60 minutes of cooking time for the thicker cobbler topping.

Slow Cooker Peach Cobbler

Using a cheese-grater to “grate” cold butter is my favorite hassle-free wait to cut in the butter for this recipe. It takes just a moment and I find it to be simpler than the more traditional methods.

If you choose not to use the grater, simply cut the cold butter into small pieces and blend it into the flour mixture, using a pastry blender or your fingertips.

Peach Cobbler in Crock Pot

It is entirely up to you whether or not to peel the peaches for this slow cooker peach cobbler. For many years, I took the time to peel the peaches and I loved the recipe like mad.

About a year ago, I stopped peeling them and I’ve never looked back. I can hardly tell a difference and I doubt I’ll ever again peel the peaches for a dessert.

The peaches and spices and sugars have been added to the crock pot and are ready to stir.

Crock Pot Peach Cobbler Recipe

You’ll need the following ingredients to make this recipe:

  • peaches
  • lemon juice
  • white and brown sugar
  • flour, baking powder, and salt
  • ground cinnamon
  • cornstarch
  • butter
  • water
All of the peaches have been stirred with sugar and spice, and is ready for topping.

Start by placing the peaches in a 4-5 QT slow cooker. Drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with flour, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Stir to coat.

In a medium bowl, whisk the dry topping ingredients together: flour, white sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the grated butter. Then, stir in the boiling water until just combined, leaving plenty of little lumps of butter.

Drop the topping over the peaches in the crockpot in spoonfuls. (I like to use my smallest cookie scoop to do this.) Stir together the remaining cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle it over the topping.

The topping has been scooped onto the peach cobbler and is ready to be sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon.

Cover with the lid and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours, checking it only at the 3-hour mark. Resist the urge to check the peach cobbler in crock pot more frequently.

When the topping has set and the peaches are bubbling around it, remove the lid and allow the cobbler to rest for 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

The topping has been sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and is ready to bake!
