My mom would make this for us kids when we wanted something sweet. She put the powdered sugar on it as we usually couldn’t afford frosting. This was the cake I always wanted for my birthday. Simple to make and oh so moist and delicious.

In reply to April. I've used Hellmans, Best Foods, and Duke's. I don't think it matters. Is there any chance it over-baked a bit? That could've dried it out.

I made this today. I followed the recipe but the cake seemed a bit dry. Not sure why. Does it matter what brand mayonnaise you use? I was really trying to make a special cake for my boyfriend who’s mom used to make it when he was younger…
