In reply to Mehdi. Isn't it great that we can adjust recipes to our own personal preferences when cooking and baking at home? While I prefer a salted dessert over pretty much all others, it's a very easy adjustment to reduce or eliminate the additional salt most of the time.

I wish people will stop adding salt to caramel. Salted caramel is the most overrated thing to happen to bakes and treats. Adding dark chocolate and vanilla to the caramel will give a much richer, less buttery, chocolate taste.

Chocolate Caramel Shortbread

You might want to proofread your recipe before posting it. You don’t have any liquid listed to melt the sugar in the pan, and you list adding salt to the caramel layer, but don’t say when. I’m glad I have extra in case it doesn’t come out correctly.
