In reply to Kate Eden Eden. I'm sorry to hear that the cake wasn't a hit. How long did you beat it for? And why longer than recommended? Were you using fresh or frozen cherries? Did you include any juices? All of that aside, this is the second comment that the cake was heavy though, so I'll add it to my list of recipes to re-test. Thanks for the feedback, Kate.

Way too sweet – too much sugar .. and dry and stodgy .
And didn’t rise much and I beat it for more than the required time
All in all not a great recipe annoyingly as I rarely make cakes and had alot of cherries to use .
