Savory Pumpkin Twists are a tasty dinner roll meant to be enjoyed year-round. Pumpkin is such an underrated versatile savory or sweet ingredient.

Pumpkin is one of my favorite ingredients to use and I don’t see why it should be limited to a few months of the year. Pumpkin soup, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cake, I love it all.

Pumpkin to me is much more versatile than many of the sweet desserts we love. Trust me and try it with savory flavors. Butter, Italian seasoning, and a sprinkling of parmesan and mozzarella cheese make these pumpkin dinner rolls.

Now, you might be a bit skeptical and want to hoard that pumpkin for your favorite sweet treat, but let me say these are worth it.

Now, I know you’re probably thinking, “pumpkin belongs in a pie or in some beautiful pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting.” Before you write them off, hear my thirty-second elevator pitch on why these are worth a can of pumpkin.

First, pumpkin makes everything it touches soft and moist, and this yeast dough is no exception. The pumpkin takes an ordinary dinner roll, and with the help of some herbs, cheese, and a pretty little twist, you have a tasty addition to any meal.

Second, we can’t go around eating sweets all season, so we might as well get more of this delicious ingredient by putting it in Savory Pumpkin Twists. After all, it is a vegetable!

Third, my husband declared them one of the best things I have made.  They’re absolutely worth a can of pumpkin and a little time!

It just isn’t fall until pumpkin baking happens at my house. These Pumpkin Cheesecake Swirled Brownies, the Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie, and the Nutella Swirled Pumpkin Dip are evidence of that.

While fall is for pumpkin desserts, nothing beats Libby’s Pumpkin Pie and it’s easily made from scratch.

I’m not familiar with using yeast. Could you estimate approximately how long it will take for the dough to double in size? Trying to figure out what time to begin these to have them for dinner!
