Homemade Mint Lemonade

Mint Lemonade

Mint Lemonade is a refreshing balance of tangy and sweet deliciousness. It’s perfect for summer porch sitting. It’s a simple twist on the classic summer drink made with real lemons and fresh mint.

Mint lemonade has been a treat in my family since my brother and I discovered it a few years ago. Mint is easy to grow and was always in abundance. Growing up we would grab some mint and mix it up with some powdered lemonade and sip our treat.

The recipe has improved and now I take a few minutes to squeeze fresh lemon juice and have improved my drink-making technique a bit.

The secret to the best mint lemonade is simply planning ahead. In order to bring out the fresh mint taste, you’ll make a simple syrup that allows the leaves to steep quickly. This infuses the syrup with loads of fresh mint flavor.

I typically just pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer, but you can also use a pair of tongs or a fork to lift the wilted mint pieces from the syrup.

My sister LOVES fresh mint, so she likes to toss the whole drink (mint pieces and all) through the blender for a whole new level of minty greatness.

What a great but simple idea. I always have extra mint in the garden as it tends to be invasive but I love it and now I have yet another use for it. I’m sure lots of people like me are liking, “Why didn’t I think of that?” Thanks
