You’ll need the following ingredients to make this recipe:

Apple Blondies Recipe

Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt butter. Beat in sugar and eggs until fluffy. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and baking powder.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet and stir until just combined. Gently fold in apples and pecans, if desired. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

While the blondies are in the oven, make the brown sugar frosting. Melt the butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and heat until bubbly and let bubble for about 2 mins.

Add the milk and cook for another 30-60 seconds until no longer grainy. Remove the pan from the heat and add the vanilla and powdered sugar. Beat until smooth. Add more milk if necessary to thin it out.

Frost the bars with the warm frosting about 2 minutes after they come out of the oven. Cool completely before slicing.

    These blondies look delicious! You are such a trooper for making 3 batches for a photoshoot! My family often open the fridge to find it cluttered with things that are labeled “don’t touch” or “don’t eat”. 🙂

    Something went wrong with mine. The flavor was good, but they were so flat. I just bought new baking soda and baking powder so I know that wasn’t the problem. I would like to try them again so any suggestions. They just kind of came out mushy on the bottom. Edges were starting to burn so I couldn’t bake them any longer. Not sure…

      That’s very odd, Christine. Without being in your kitchen with you, it’s difficult to guess what might have gone wrong. This is a fairly straightforward recipe and my best guess is that something simply might have been mismeasured. I’ve had that happen more than once before when I’m distracted while baking. Did you by chance substitute any ingredients? I can certainly appreciate your frustration!
